Attending dmexco 2019? Here’s what you can expect
The new edition of dmexco (digital marketing expo and conference) is just around the corner. Set in Koelnmesse, a huge exhibition site in Cologne, the event has established itself as the biggest ad tech conference in Germany and EMEA.
With more than 1,000 exhibitors and 41,000 visitors under one roof, there will certainly be a lot of ground to cover at the upcoming event! Our team of digital natives will be attending the conference and doing the rounds between conference talks and exhibitors’ areas, in order to keep our finger on the pulse of the latest trends and solutions to help our clients scale their mobile campaigns. Aside from catching up with our partners, we will also make the most of out of the incredible networking opportunities in an electric, buzzing atmosphere. Are you also attending? Brush up on the dmexco lowdown below to know what you can expect.
How’s the vibe?
Affectionately dubbed the “Cannes for techies” – with beer replacing the riviera’s characteristic Rose’, mind you – it’s attended by pretty much everyone the digital ad supply chain, from industry giants (Facebook and Google) to up-and-coming indie players. So it’s no surprise that dmexco has become an important source of inspiration for the entire ecosystem, capturing the zeitgeist and setting future trends – ultimately building bridges between players, business models and global markets.
Biggest Innovation Trends
We can’t wait to dig deeper into the latest digital marketing innovation trends and gather some fresh, relevant industry insights that we can apply to help deliver goals for our clients’ mobile advertising campaigns.
With the theme being “Trust in You”, there will be a lot of talk (FYI – mainly in German as it’s still the dominant market, but also in English, with the event becoming increasingly more international) about how marketing and digital businesses will emphasize the importance of trust in the further development of the digital economy. There will be no shortage of inspiring insights across a total of 9 stages, 150+ seminars and 550+ speakers. High-profile names like Harley Finkelstein (shopify), Walter Jacobs (Twitch) and Dave King (Asana) will be guaranteed to pull in the big crowds – especially on the infamous Congress Stage. Moreover, we like that it’s becoming increasingly inclusive: after 30 percent in 2017 and 33 percent in 2018, the proportion of female speakers on DMEXCO’s curated stages will be at least 37 percent in 2019.
The buzzwords at dmexco 2019 will be big data, programmatic, influencer marketing, AI, AR and VR – around the themes of trust, personalization and cyber security. Users must be able to trust that companies treat their data respectfully and responsibly. In addition the industry needs the confidence of society that digitisation will bring more advantages than disadvantages. This year’s motto is intended to encourage each individual and the community as a whole. Naturally, a big focus will be on the EMEA market, given that the major movers and shakers in the region will be attending.
In a Nutshell
dmexco is an immersive and unmissable experience covering the ad tech spectrum from A to Z. For its sheer size alone and the number of booths, stages and companies on display, it can be an overwhelming experience. Bottom line is: you can’t do it all! So it’s important to gather your thoughts and objectives in advance, and to organize your time wisely between combining networking and knowledge-seeking. Make sure to wear comfy shoes!
But the conference doesn’t stop at 5pm, in fact you’ll want to stay after the sun sets. We thoroughly enjoyed mingling with ad tech industry experts over a pint of beer after a hard day’s work at last year’s event.
