As our name WeQ suggests, “we” are firm believers in the power of collaboration. As the saying goes “teamwork makes the dream work” and we know that only by working together, we can achieve the best results for our clients. So, who are the people behind WeQ that are on a joint mission to drive mobile user growth and engagement at a global scale?

Firstly, there is our operational team of mobile aficionados comprising over 100 people, hailing from 30+ nationalities.

At the helm, WeQ’s operational team is spearheaded by a management team of recognized industry veterans and market experts who are passionate about empowering companies to reach their user acquisition goals. We give you the lowdown on who’s who below.

Markus Malti, CEO, former Director Digital Strategy at Wanadoo, Europe


Markus has over 20 years’ experience as a leading digital manager and entrepreneur. He is credited for having helped global brands realize the potential of the internet. Thanks to his endless enthusiasm and drive for bringing competitive digital business ideas to life, he has overseen multiple company launches and successful exits like Just a Game GmbH and TGC GmbH. Before becoming a serial entrepreneur and Partner at the Covus Group in 2011, he held leading positions at international organizations, including Director of Product Marketing at SEGA, Director Digital Strategy Europe at Wanadoo (French Telekom) and Digital Director at RTL. Markus has won various awards like KFW Gründerpreis, European Innovative Technology Award as well as Offizieller Deutscher Entwicklerpreis, to name a few. At WeQ, he operates as the CEO and is in charge of finance, HR and the overall growth strategy. His interests beside work include sports, digital business models and books, with a passion for theatre and literature.

Hendrik Volp, CBDO, former CRO at adjust


Hendrik is a go-to market leader with an all-around expertise in international corporate development, company growth and driving revenue. As CRO of adjust, he drove the company’s commercial success propelling it as a global leader with a valuation of $200M in under 5 years and amassed an in-depth understanding of major markets including North America, Brasil, EMEA and APAC. With 20 years’ experience in digital media and technology, he worked for multiple companies including Adconion Media Group in publisher sales and partnerships. In his spare time, Hendrik is an advisor for various start-ups and likes to spend time with his family and friends. He also loves outdoor sports, enjoys great food and wine, and travelling the world.

Dr. Steffen Wachenfeld, CPO, former HitFox Group & founder of ad tech company sold to AppLift


Dr. Steffen Wachenfeld is a digital native who has grown up with Z80-processors, monochrome monitors and daisy wheel printers – a passion that led him to obtain Master degrees in Information Systems and Computer Science. He has a Ph.D. in Machine Learning, and did a post-doc in Data Analysis and Pattern Recognition. As the Chief Product Officer of WeQ, he applies the principles of machine learning to make real-time mobile advertising decisions. When he’s not busy building tech, he likes working with fellow entrepreneurs both as advisor to multiple start-ups and as a mentor at the Founder Institute. One of his biggest passions is to play underwater rugby. He has won the first Bundesliga Nord multiple times with his team, participated in the German national championships and has convinced already several people at WeQ to try this fun sport.

Bastian Quilitz, CTO, former VP of Technology at glispa


Bastian started programming when he was 12, and founded his first software development company when he was still in school. Since then, Bastian has worked for over 20 years in various roles, as a software engineer, consultant, architect, team lead and in management. Prior to WeQ, Bastian served as VP, Technology at glispa, where he established the development team and built the company’s ad tech systems from the ground up, leading to an acquisition of the company in 2015. At WeQ, Bastian is responsible for building and scaling WeQ ad tech services and infrastructure and shaping the technology vision for the business. When not thinking about tech he enjoys being outdoors, hiking, biking, and travelling. He is also passionate about natural horsemanship.

Kerstin Feix, CPeO, former Global Head of People at MetaDesign


Kerstin is a human-oriented leader with more than 15 years’ international experience in HR management at companies including MetaDesign and frog design (2 world-class design agencies). As an expert on the topics of employer branding and creating a winning company culture, she has coached and inspired teams in dynamic environments – a passion which she extends to her volunteer work with Jugendhaus Bolle, mentoring and motivating socially disadvantaged kids between the age of 6 and 11. She has been named as one of the top ten ‘Women to Watch’ in the Creative Industry, and was the first HR person ever being featured in a Cover Story by W&V magazine. Her passions include good food, travelling, pilates and stand-up paddling. As a former California girl, she also enjoys soaking up the sun.

Riccardo dal Pozzolo, Group CFO, 10 years in various international finance/business dev roles


After reading economics at Harvard, Riccardo obtained an MA in Business Administration and Ethics at LMU in Munich. Harnessing his strong leadership skills, Riccardo works with WeQ’s ex- and internal stakeholders on the strategic vision of the company, including diversifying the company’s financial instruments, internationalization and M&A activities. Having grown up in Bavaria, Riccardo is naturally a fan of the outdoors with hobbies including skiing and sailing. He also enjoys art and architecture, having studied Italian culture during a university stint abroad.

John Schlüter, CMO, former CBO at Thomas Sabo


Our marketing rockstar hails from Hamburg and joined WeQ to develop the marketing brand, ensuring that WeQ’s message reaches all the targeted audiences and platforms, across multiple touch-points. John’s background is in business and luxury, having driven the jewellery and watch brand Thomas Sabo as CBO and heading different product categories at Montblanc, before moving into ad tech. His taste for the finer things in life extends to fashion and interior design. A keen sportsman, he regularly enjoys EMS gym sessions and hockey matches.

Tim Nilsson, Member of the Advisory Board, former MD at glispa


After obtaining a Msc in Business Administration at the Jonkoping International Business School in Sweden, Tim Nilsson spent more than 17 years building and managing fast-growing Internet and new media companies across Europe, including Tilvaxtpiloterna AB. A seasoned ad tech expert with unrivalled knowledge of performance marketing, he is currently active as a member of the Advisory Board at WeQ where he is helping to shape the strategies and processes revolving around growth. Prior to WeQ, Tim spent more than 9 years shaping Glispa Global Group as Managing Director and co-founder. As a self-confessed soccer fan, in his spare time, you’re likely to find Tim playing a soccer game or watching one.
