A Frozen Frenzy Sweeps Through WeQ HQ
Baby, it’s cold outside! With Christmas fast approaching, the festive spirit has been sweeping through WeQ HQ for the past couple of weeks: the excitement started building up on November 23rd when the whole team got together to wrap some presents for children in need as part of the exciting Christmas in a Shoebox initiative. Lots of wrapping confusion ensued (wrapping a shoebox is apparently not an easy feat!), which was nicely complemented by the mulled-wine.
So, on December 7th, the WeQ team was more than ready to spread some festive cheer and take part in our “Frozen Frenzy” festive celebrations. The event was a perfect way to beat the cold and keep warm in Berlin’s freezing temperatures, while celebrating the business successes and achievements of 2018. The event took place at the WeQ HQ, which was transformed into a picturesque winter wonderland with a decidedly frosted theme.
The frozen-themed celebrations commenced at 4.30pm with a welcome speech by our Managing Directors Sven Lubek and Markus Malti. The guests were then treated to Weihnacht (Christmas the German way – they sure know how to celebrate it!) party favourites including Glühwein (mulled wine), biscuits — assorted variety of Lebkuchen, Pfeffernüsse and more classics — cakes and drinks. Of course, no Christmas party is complete without games. The WeQs’ tested their facial-recognizing abilities by guessing their colleagues’ identity after analyzing their baby pictures (cuteness overload!), a fun activity organized by WeQ’s Fun Committee. The lucky winners were announced and bagged some cool prizes.
Next, the Christmas buffet opened and hungry guests enjoyed a selection of delicious Christmas-themed canapes such as Rabbit Plum Brioche and Candy Cane Cupcakes, provided by “2017 Caterers of the Year” Aveato. They washed them down with their favourite drink mixers at our DIY bar station, which was fully stocked. Of course there’s few things better than making memories with dear friends and esteemed colleagues in the form of photography. The Selfie Mirror Photo booth was put to good use throughout the night, because – who doesn’t love a good selfie with proper lighting? Our Graphic Design intern and resident photography extraordinaire Lilika Strezoska also snapped WeQ’s happy faces throughout the evening.
Partygoers then rocked the floor and danced to the tunes of The Syncussions – a musical duo comprising of our resident DJ Liz (we pride ourselves on having a diverse range of talents at WeQ, including the musically-inclined) and her fellow band member Ali. They took over the funky DJ booth and played an eclectic set voyaging from disco, to grime and Eighties’ classics.
Credits for this unforgettable evening go to our events maestro Vanessa Ferreira for organizing and masterminding the event and a special thanks goes to the WeQ volunteers who helped to put it together. On that note, we’d like to thank our esteemed colleagues and dear friends for joining us in celebrating the past year at this truly special event. Here’s to another great year!
